The Irving Heartt House to be Replaced with 3-Story Multi-Family Building
Last month, the DG Village Council unanimously approved the demolition of The Irving Heartt House for construction of a 3-story multi-family building. The house, located at 902 Maple Avenue, was built in 1912 by Irving Heartt and was most recently used as an office building. Born in 1877, Heartt was a very active resident of Downers Grove. He was instrumental in raising funds to build the Indian Boundary YMCA and he, along with his wife, Lulu, donated the money to build the Heartt Memorial Chapel at the First United Methodist Church. Heartt resided in the home until his death in 1975 at the age of 98.
