New Shrubs Add Beauty to Main Street Cemetery

Have you taken a good look around as you walk through Main Street Cemetery lately? Visitors may notice several newly planted shrubs adding beauty to this historic resting place in the heart of Downers Grove. This spring, the Village planted three new Sweetbay Magnolias and three Eastern Redbuds to enhance the landscape and help preserve the welcoming character of the cemetery.

The Garden Club of Downers Grove has also been hard at work beautifying the grounds. Be sure to notice the colorful red, white, and blue flowers recently planted by the club, adding seasonal color and charm throughout the cemetery.

If you haven’t visited recently, you may also notice updates completed last year to the pergola and cemetery maps, making the site even more inviting and accessible for visitors.

These ongoing improvements are made possible through the continued partnership between the Village of Downers Grove and the Downers Grove Historical Society, working together to preserve and celebrate this one-of-a-kind historic landmark for future generations.
