History of Downers Grove Township

August 23, 2025
10:00 am — 11:00 am

Location:

Downers Grove Public Library
1050 Curtiss St, Downers Grove

Come join us at the Downers Grove Public Library to explore the places and learn about the people who made the history of Downers Grove Township. Founded in 1839, by 1873, DuPage County was divided into nine Townships. Downers Grove Township was and still is the largest with boundaries from County Line Road to Woodward Avenue and 39th Street to the Illinois & Michigan Canal. An area that started with just four major settlements, Downers Grove, Hinsdale, Clarendon Hills and Fullersburg, now includes nine villages. Each one of these villages has a story of its own.  Whether you’re a local history buff or just curious about the past, this event is sure to offer something for everyone.  Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to learn about the rich heritage of Downers Grove Township!
