Jane Cumming Dalrymple Kennedy was born in Mochrum, Wigtownshire, Scotland in 1848. She came to America with her husband Robert Hugh Kennedy and young son Robert in 1879. Their journey on the ship State of Nevada took 10 days. She died in 1881 just two years after arriving in Downers Grove. She possibly died of scarlet fever which took the lives of many others in the community at the time.
