In honor of Veterans Day on November 11th, we’re remembering Downers Grove’s own Fred Faulkner Lester — a Navy Corpsman whose bravery at the Battle of Okinawa during World War II earned him the Congressional Medal of Honor. His story is one of courage, sacrifice, and love of country.
