Charles Meadal is another Downers Grove resident from Alsace, France. He sailed to America in 1834 on the ship France. He came here with his first wife Effa and children George, Jacob, and Catherine. By 1850 they made their way to DuPage County. By 1874 they had acquired 80 acres near 63rd and Cass. Effa died sometime before 1860. By 1880 Charles married his second wife Dora, also from Alsace. Charles and Dora are both buried in the Main Street Cemetery.
