2024 Montrew Dunham Award Presentation: Mary Ellen Young
The Downers Grove Historical Society will honor Mary Ellen Young as the 2024 Montrew Dunham Award recipient. This award was established by the Downers Grove Historical Society in 2019 to honor those whose significant service and contributions to the Village of Downers Grove have earned them a place in its history, following in the footsteps of noted teacher, author, historian, and community volunteer, Montrew Dunham.
Young is recognized for her many contributions to Downers Grove through her focus on improved local childhood education and childhood mental health. She has been and continues to be an active volunteer in many local not-for-profit and civic organizations that bring a deeper connection and a sense of community to Downers Grove residents.
The public is invited to meet and learn about this remarkable woman at a ceremony when she will be honored – 1 p.m. Sat., Oct. 5, in the James Henry Breasted auditorium at Lincoln Center, 935 Maple Ave. in Downers Grove. The event is free and open to the public, please register below.
