The Downers Grove Historical Society proudly announces that Helen Myers, long-time member, volunteer, and Director Emeritus Helen Myers has been seclected as the 2019 Historian of the Year.
This honor recognizes an individual who has made outstanding contributions to preserving and celebrating Downers Grove history.
Born and raised in Downers Grove, Helen built a successful 36-year career with AT&T while also dedicating countless hours to volunteer service throughout the community. She supported fundraising efforts to bring Good Samaritan Hospital to Downers Grove, served in leadership roles at her church, volunteered at The Morton Arboretum, and devoted many years to the Historical Society.
As a Historical Society volunteer, board member, docent, and Director Emeritus, Helen was a familiar and trusted presence at Founders Day, Living Cemetery events, fundraising activities, and museum tours. Her knowledge of local history and willingness to share it helped preserve Downers Grove’s story for future generations.
Helen’s legacy of service and love of local history continue to inspire today. Congratulations again to Helen Myers, the Downers Grove Historical Society’s 2019 Historian of the Year.
