While James has a headstone here, James is actually not buried in the Main Street Cemetery. While James did buy a plot here, he was actually buried in Parkholm Cemetery in La Grange. James came to Illinois from New York, with his wife Serepta Pierce. His father was born in New York while his mother was Scottish. By 1880, they had settled in Downers Grove with their family.
