This past January, the Historical Society partnered with Orange & Brew Bottle Shop to sponsor an architectural scavenger hunt in downtown Downers Grove. Orange & Brew owner Eric Schmidt originally approached the society about doing an event to coincide with “Dry January” with the goal being to get folks outside and active. Each week, participants used a clue sheet to find six architectural details found on downtown buildings and spaces. A winner was chosen each week and awarded a gift card. Many Orange & Brew patrons participated and even a few folks who’d never been to the shop. The event was so popular the Society is investigating hosting a similar contest in the summer. Stay tuned!
