The Downers Grove Historical Society named John Breen the 2015 Historian of the Year.
Breen, who has lived in Downers Grove more than 75 years, received the honor in May 2015 for his 20 years of volunteer work at the Downers Grove Museum.
Breen was a pharmacist for much of his life, but has always been interested in the past. John was quoted as saying, “I’ve read quite a bit of history.” The award was presented the award as part of the Downers Grove Founders Day celebration on May 3, 2015.
John passed away in 2017.
