Reverend Charles Reynolds was born in 1834 in Rocky Springs, Mississippi. He married his wife Ellen in 1856. At the age of 68 in 1902 after a career in the ministry, Charles became minister of the Congregational Church in Downers Grove when he essentially swapped pulpits with Rev. Libby. Rev. Reynolds was a strong prohibitionist. He died here in 1912. While he purchased the lot in the Main Street Cemetery and has a stone engraved with “In Memoriam,” he was actually buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago.
