The Queen Anne house at 5217 Fairmount is honorary name celebrates long-time owners, Guy and Cora Belle Wheeler, who lived in the house for nearly 50 years. Guy Wheeler worked for the CB&Q Railroad, now the Burlington Northern.
The Wheelers sold the house to Loyd and Marie Brady in 1950. Marie was a well known Chicago are character actress with a vast body of work including the soap opera Hawkins Falls, Population 6200 which was broadcast live from Chicago from 1950 to 1955). She also appeared in movies, TV commercials, stock theater around the country. Loyd was an award winning AP Reporter. They both were active in local theater, forming their own theater company, the Pinocchio Players Guild. Their partners were Fred & Rosemary Sauers. Fred’s father ran the Cook County Forest Preserve. Rosemary was the daughter of James Thurber.
