  • The Village was celebrating the 175th anniversary of its founding.
  • The Village held the 25th Heritage Festival Street Fair. The event began on the anniversary of the founding.
  • The Village Council adopted a Historic Preservation Ordinance.
  • Efforts to save the 1846 Blodgett House drove the creation of the Downers Grove Heritage Preservation Corporation.
  • The Historical Society recognized the iconic Brick Streets as the Historic Site of the Year.
  • The Village approved a new fire station [#2] at 5420 Main St.
  • A special use ordinance was approved for a residential/retail multi-use development on the northeast corner of Maple Avenue and Main street.
  • Ron Sandack took office as mayor of Downers Grove, succeeding Brian Krajewski.
