March roared in like a lion for DGHS with the Mochel Documentary presentation selling out twice! Following that, FoundersFest Week “Finding Freedom In The Grove” was a resounding success!
Throughout the week, the society provided numerous opportunities for everyone to explore Downers Grove’s history while participating in various enjoyable activities. From celebrating Israel Blackburn as the Founder of the Year in a ceremony at the Main Street Cemetery, to Jim Toth honored as the Historian of the Year at the Tivoli, to golfers enjoying a round of golf at the Belmont Golf Club during the Pine Hollow Open.
Attended by many Downers Grove residents, the presentation of the premiere of “The 1846 Blodget House” documentary took place at the Tivoli. Additional FoundersFest events took place at the library, the Park District, and Lyman Woods. Festivities concluded at the Museum Campus with Country in the Park and Downers Grove Historical Society Historian Lois Sterba presenting the 1846 Blodgett House Plaque to the Downers Grove Museum.
