Our annual Membership Meeting took place this past Saturday at the Belmont Golf Club, one of our recognized Historic Sites. A special thank-you to the club for hosting the event. Everyone enjoyed listening to the live entertainment by the Vintage Jazz Ensemble, a stellar group that performs the jazz from the speakeasy era. Delicious tacos and free soft drinks were provided by Outpost Mexican Eatery.
The highlight of the meeting was the presentation by board member and local historian Lois Sterba. Her talk on the seven notable women of Downers Grove included Lottie Holman O’Neill.
President Marty Acks presented on various programs of the Society , including the Historic Home Program, FoundersFest, Living Cemetery, History on Tap, and more.
A financial update was provided by Treasure Rich Kulovany, and members voted on the minor bylaws revision. The members also approved the slate of board candidates, including reelection of existing board members Deb Howard and Marty Acks, and Liz Chalberg rejoining the board. Amy Gassen now becomes Past President. We thank her term as Board President.
