This property was originally owned by Orange Lyman whom was an early settler and preacher in Downers Grove. The home is believed to be a passage stop on the Underground Railroad. At one point this historic home was to be demolished but the process was stopped and the home saved.

The original carriage house has been replaced with much larger 2-story garage.
