Built circa 1927, the George Graves House is a Sears Kit Home “Del Rey” model. The mortgage was secured from Sears Trustee Walker O. Lewis on May 17, 1927 for $7000.
The Del Rey model was available in 1921, 1922, and 1925, and 1926 and cost between $1,978 and $2, 557. The description of the Del Rey model from the Sears Home Catalog reads:
The Del Rey model was first built in Pasadena, CA where it was admired by travelers from all parts of the world. Among many of its unique features is the wide overhanging roof that shelters the windows and sidewalls from rain and sun and affords special protection to the three long French windows at the front. All windows on front elevation are the long French windows, reflecting a touch of Italian and Spanish architecture. A good size front porch, 20 feet by 8 feet, is partly covered by the extending main roof supported by ornamental brackets carrying out the quaint and beautiful style of architecture.
