Avery Coonley School is the only property in Downers Grove listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Historical Society is proud to offer you a rare opportunity to enjoy its grounds, learn about its history and architecture, and tour its campus. The event will start with a reception on the patio where attendees can take in views of the surrounding adjacent Maple Grove Forest Preserve while enjoying light refreshments. Attendees will then move to the auditorium where Avery Coonley School Head of School Dr. Kirsty Montgomery, Ph.D will give a presentation on the history and architecture of the property. Following the presentation, a limited number of small group guided tours will be available.
